This morning I woke,
to a bright and sunny day.
I was still clinging,
to my fantasy dreamworld,
though I kept tossing and turning, they say.
Crazy, stupid, scary, sad
vivid colours and moving scenes.
No wonder my head feels
like it's full of beans.
The golden light pierced through my eyes
and into my pain-filled head,
the very center.
Sounds seem multiplied,
like an annoying stentor.
There's a fork stuck
behind my eye.
The points digging in,
'till I might cry.
In the car with my family,
I dreaded each turn, though I was stuck in the cab.
The turning signal went
tick, tick, tick, tick,
but it felt like
stab, stab, stab,
Migraine
The pain
Funny little spots everywhere
Brain feels stuffed with cotton
That slowly expands
Until your head is ready to explode
But theres more
Not just a headache
Light drills into your eyes
And spikes pain through your mind
Sounds add dizziness
Until you cant stand up
Beloved scents
Cause the pain to explode
Silent darkness the only refuge
As the migraine destroys your body
Take this drug to make it go away
The doctors say
But they dont know the pain
The agony of defeat
When the medicine doesnt work
And the side-effects suck away your spirit
Change your life
It's like a plague that spreads
Mind numbing pain to which never ends
Vice grips wrought around my head
Nerves so in pain
I never wanted this, never needed this
Two years is enough to forget the bliss
I never wanted this, never needed this
A pain so unforgettable, so regrettable
Jutting spikes break the skull
The pressure always full
Shaking muscles never stop
Pain screaming out around the clock
I never wanted this, never needed this
Two years is enough to forget the bliss
I never wanted this, never needed this
A pain so unforgettable, so regrettable
Face first into the wall
That's how I crumble and fall
M.R.I.'s take pictur
It's a drill, a saw and a hammer,
working on your skull at once.
It's a taut elastic band,
that's slowly pulling tighter.
It's a drummer at a rock show,
playing from within you.
It's a thousand empty veins,
begging for blood and oxygen.
It's a migraine.
